East African Adventures

4 days Safari Highlights

Day 1: Arusha - Karatu

Drive to Arusha, where your driver/guide and safari vehicle waits for you with a lunchbox. The vehicle is equipped with a top-up roof for better game viewing and a fridge to keep the complimentary mineral water cool. All passengers are secured of a window seat. Drive from Arusha to Karatu, the last village before the entrance gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Karatu – Ngorongoro – Serengeti National Park

Early morning departure with lunchbox in order to arrive in time in the Serengeti for starting the game drives. The road from Karatu leads you through the Crater Forest and over the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Short stop at the viewpoint with breathtaking views over the crater, before descending towards the Serengeti. The vast extensions of the Serengeti plains before you will impress you and wanting you to explore this area in deep. The Migration, consisting of around 2 million animals, is on the move all year round. Depending on the season you may see this impressive phenomenon. Naturally it also attracts a mass of predators and you may be able to see a band of lionesses gather for a hunt. You will return to your lodge for a sumptuous lunch to gather strength for the afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight in lodge or tented camp.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Early morning game drive, as at dawn the predators are more active and you might have a chance to even see a kill. Afterwards you'll return with a lunchbox to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Afternoon you'll descend onto the crater floor to emerge into this fishbowl of wildlife. On the grass steppe and in the acacia tree woods, you will find almost all species that are found in the East African savannah; with the exception of topis, Masai giraffes and impalas. Quite often you can observe the "Big Five" (lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinoceros and leopards) within a couple of hours. After an extensive wildlife tour and a picnic for lunch, just before sunset return to the crater rim for dinner and overnight in a lodge or tented camp.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Arusha

After breakfast, drive back with lunch box to Arusha for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar or other destination. If you'll have enough time, you will have a last chance to do some shoppings in the handcraft markets of Mto wa Mbu, a busy village along the road, where women sell bananas of all colours along the road.
